The Freewheelers: Where are they now?
What do you do now you’ve cycled round the world!?
It’s one of the most frequently asked questions we get.
It’s been seven months since we rode with 32 of our friends and family to Buckingham Palace to complete our round the world journey by bicycle.
We’ve certainly been spending less time cycling and writing blogs than we did last year, however we’ve found plenty of things to fill our time with!
Ewan has finally managed to get a haircut and a shave for starters, and Katie has almost evened out the tan lines on her legs! Here we are on a recent trip to Scotland.
This weekend we had some exciting news. You may recall back in December we were nominated for the “Best Travel Blog” of 2017 at the UK Blog Awards.
The travel category was the most heavily contested with 111 entrants. The first round was a public vote which thanks to all your help we managed to make the final eight!
The final eight blogs and websites were then poured over by a judging panel from the industry, with the results announced at a posh awards ceremony last Friday night which the Daily Mail described as: "a glitzy event which gives nods to excellent bloggers, social influencers, organisations and individual creators."
We were surprised and absolutely delighted to win the “Highly Commended” award in the travel category!
It's essentially second place, the overall winners were a blog called Along Dusty Roads who are actual real life travel bloggers and very worthy winners. Do check out their website - it is slick!
It was a fantastic night and we are both very proud to have been recognised for all the work we put into our blog whilst we were away.
Aside from the blog awards, we also had the small matter of getting married to attend to last month.
Our wedding was in the Highlands of Scotland and so for old times sake we thought we’d get the trusty round the world bikes out again and we rode 100km from Edinburgh to our wedding venue in lovely place called Comrie.
It was a magical weekend, the weather was fantastic and we were even able to get married outside!
Here are a few of our favourite pictures:
Job wise we have been straight back into work from the minute we go home.
Ewan is still working for the drinks company Diageo where he was before the bike trip.
Katie has been working for the last six months as marketing manager at a sports events company which she has absolutely loved. Her entrepreneurial spirit has taken over again though...she'll be throwing herself back into the world of self-employment in July as a marketing consultant. On the side, she's fulfilling a passion to complete her personal training qualifications - so if you're keen to get in shape, she'll be taking bookings soon!
Aside from that we’ve been having a great time back in London being reunited with our friends and family.
Now our wedding is out the way it will free up more time for us to dream up the next big adventure…
